You're not only comparing two theories but you're applying the theories to bitcoin! That's a major effort, or at least, three efforts in one. Maybe just compare the two approaches? Or do you have to apply something? Have you seen Seth Lloyd's list of measures of complexity? https://web.mit.edu/esd.83/www/notebook/Complexity.PDF
Applying measures of complexity to something does feel important. I can definitely see myself deciding to only apply one of them though (I'd focus on Simonian)
Do you think there are other types of systems besides Bitcoin that would be easier to study?
This sounds like a big project, Shingai. Do you propose this for a graduate thesis? class assignment? independent course credit? Or just a future possibility?
This is proposed for our final project, which is to write "an essay equivalent to a conference paper, presenting novel results on a topic related to the course."
Very open to any suggestions on how I might simplify the proposal to make it a bit more manageable! And I do have a separate backup proposal focused on studying the dynamics of U.S. monetary policy with an ABM that I believe could be much less complex
I don't know what type of system would be easier to study for you. Bitcoin may be overwhelming to me but straightforward to you.
Cool! I especially like the emergence and article by seth Lloyd.

Seth's list is my first citation!
